  It was unexpectedly warm for the Edinburgh Marathon and many runners struggled in the heat. Despite the conditions Denise Evans veteran 45 from The Angels Running Club ran a time of 3.44.54 very close to her personal best. Veteran 50 Jackie Hobday also ran well to record 4.11.55. Julie Hapeshi in 4.51.02 and Pippa Medcalf in 4.46.59 enjoyed their runs and welcomed the crowd support en route.

 Weather conditions were more favourable for The Scottish Half Marathon which started at 8am and followed some of the same route as that of the marathoners. Deborah Southgate ran her best time for 4 years to finish 4th veteran 50 in 1.44.32. 3737 runners completed the half marathon course.
 
 The following Monday evening the weather was also very warm for the members of The Angels Running Club who took part in The Westonbirt 10km. Gina Kerrod ran her first race for the club in just over the hour and Elizabeth Nicholls was thrilled to run under an hour in 59.22 a new personal best time. Chris Ellis, veteran 60 in her first race for several months was pleased to finish in 1.04.38. All the finishers received a sapling.

In the Blaisdon Bluebell 10km there were good performances from members of the Angels Running Club. Liz Spiers pipped Nicola Wong at the finish to beat her by just one second in 48.49. Deborah Southgate finished strongly in 49.47 and Joanne Carter completed the team.
 
A week later 'Angels' had three members running in the Tewkesbury half marathon. New member Trudi Tunstall finished in 1.58.35, Claire Waters ran 2.19.35 and Sandra Major ran a personal best by four minutes in 3.16.00.

The following day in the Berkeley 10km, part of the Gloucestershire Road Race Series, there was once again success for the Angels. Den Evans, veteran 45, was first for the club in an excellent new personal best of 45.42. She will be competing in the Edinburgh Marathon at the weekend. Deborah Southgate ran well to record 47.37, two minutes faster than Blaisdon and she won the 1st veteran 50 prize for the second year running. Close behind Southgate was Jackie Hobday finishing 3rd veteran 50 in 48 minutes. She will also be competing in the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday. Liz Spiers once again ran under 50 minutes in 49.01 and Joanne Carter finished in 50.33. Next home was Dawn Hyde, veteran 55,who did well to record 56 minutes in her first race following the London Marathon. Eileen Dodwell had a fabulous race she strided well in the last mile to finish well under the hour and in a new personal best of 59.34. This performance also earnt her full points in the veteran 60 category of the road race series.

Over the past few weeks members of the Angels running club have taken part in a variety of races with some pleasing results. Jenny Vallelly and Lynette D'arcy Wass took part in the Bath Half Marathon. For her first attempt at the distance Jenny did well to record 2.22.34 with Lynnette in 1.58.04 recording a new PB.

In the Peopleton scenic 6 Liz Spiers enjoyed a wet, muddy and undulating multi-terrain in a time of 52.44. 

In the Ashby 20 Den Evans and Caroline Parker recorded times of 2.47.04 and 3.32.05 both running on tired legs with all their marathon training.

In the Bashley 10km Teresa Bennett ran 54.00 a personal best by 3 minutes which she repeated with a time of 2.00.47 in the Reading Half.

The Hogweed Hilly Half held on a sunny Mother's Day morning was another hard training run for Den Evans in an excellent time of 1.48 on a challenging course, whilst Deborah Southgate admitted to walking one of the steep hills and finished just outside 2 hours.

In the Forest Half two weeks later Den Evans recorded yet another excellent time of 1.45.50 in preparation for the Edinburgh marathon in May. Jackie Hobday in training for the same event ran a very respectable time of 1.56.13 and new club member Debbie Wallace completed the team in 2.07. Joanne Carter travelled to Minchinhampton for a new, very hilly 10km and in a time of 53.40 she finished 1st lady veteran 45.

Over the Easter weekend four members ran in the Easter 10km in Sandhurst in very wet conditions. Liz Spiers with a time of 49.24 won the 1st lady vet 35 prize, Helen Bown finished in 54.08 and Eileen Dodwell was really pleased to run a new PB of 61.43 and also receive the veteran lady 60 prize. Jenny Vallely ran a new PB of 63.06.

On Easter Monday the 'Angels' dominated the ladies' field at the annual Tredworth run. Nicola Wong finished in second place in a PB of of 32.42, Liz Spiers was next and finished 1st lady veteran 35 once again. Jackie Hobday also recorded a new personal best for the course and was 1st veteran 50. Next to finish was veteran 50 Deborah Southgate in her ninth running of the race, followed by Joanne Carter {1st LV45} and  then veteran 50 Helen Bown. Completing the team was Eileen Dodwell {1st LV60}.
 
On Saturday 10th April Helen Bown and Jenny Vallely took part in the local 'Grocery' 4 mile with Helen taking 1st veteran 50 prize and on Sunday 11th Nicola Wong ran her third marathon in Blackpool. A delighted Nicola showed all her hard winter training had paid off with a new personal best of over 21 minutes and a time of 3 hours and 45 minutes for the veteran 40 year old at the seaside venue.
